During the Covid-19 pandemic, like the rest of the world, I began to explore new hobbies and set new goals for myself. One of which was to get in better shape and resulted in me running over 250 miles in 2020. I had high hopes for 2021 to run 400 miles over the course of the year. However, after a full year of clocking miles I started to notice that things weren't going quite as I expected.
My body was reacting to runs differently. My energy levels weren’t where they had been a year prior. So, I started looking for answers to help improve my performance and it all led me to one conclusion, I needed new shoes. All jokes aside, everyday self-care such as maintaining a well-balanced diet and getting enough sleep each night are every bit as important as what you’re running in. However, after battling some ankle injuries I set out to find the perfect running shoe to carry me the distance for the rest of 2021 and into my 2022 goals. At the beginning of 2021 I retired my Nike Zoom Fly SP’s which had split time with my Nike Renew Run’s for my 250 miles the year prior. In 2021 I tried out 5 new running models and provided a personal overview of each one below.

I don’t care what kind of technology these luxury dress brands try to slip into the insoles of their hard bottoms; nothing beats a comfortable pair of sneakers. Nike gave it their best shot in 2013 with a sneaker sole on the Cole Haan x Air Max and one could argue the bottom of a Clarks Wallabee is as squishy and comfortable as any insole, but in my opinion nothing is more comfortable than a great sneaker.
